Our Spring Exhibition will be held at The Grand on The Leas (www.grand-uk.com) at Folkestone from Friday 16 May to Monday 26 May 2008.
The exhibition opens at 10am each day and closes at 5pm. The Spring Exhibition usually has up to 250 paintings and works of art on view and the majority of the work is for sale. The exhibition is rightly considered an important event in the arts calendar of the south-east and the Society’s previous exhibitions have drawn praise for the high standard of work exhibited. Visitors are asked to vote for their favourite work of art and prizes will be presented to the winning artists.
Introduced at our spring exhibition in 2006 was a separate competition for paintings or drawings which was generously supported by our Patron Michael Stainer of The Grand. This was so successful that this spring there is to be a new ‘Grand Competition’ for members. This competition, with a theme of ’Reflections in Time’, will be on show in the Palm Court and members of the public can vote for their favourite work.
An exhibition with the theme of ‘Tales of Time and Space’ will be held in the Palm Court of The Grand from Thursday 12 June to Monday 23 June 2008. The exhibition can be viewed during the normal opening times of the Palm Court Restaurant (www.grand-uk.com for details). This exhibition will run at the same time as the ‘Open Studios’ and at the start of the 2008 Triennial.
Entrance to the exhibition is free and there is ample free parking.
