About the Society | ||||||||||
The Folkestone Art Society is committed to maintaining high standards of practice. We aim to promote the continuing development of our members and the arts in Folkestone and in Kent. We are both professional and amateur artists who hold exhibitions, lectures, open studios, workshops, outings and community projects. We embrace a range of art forms: painting, pastels, drawing, sculpture, etching and ceramics. Some of our members regularly exhibit throughout the UK and Europe. We have about 200 members from as far afield as London, Deal, Canterbury, Hythe, Ashford, Dover, Romney Marsh, Whitstable, Dunsfold, Lydd and Kingsdown. We exist to enjoy creating art and to share it with local residents as well as with the many visitors to the area. To this end we hold two of the largest exhibitions held in Kent with, in addition, a number of smaller exhibitions organised during the year. Artists who wish to join our Society can become Exhibiting Members. We also welcome those who wish to support the Society by becoming Friends. For full information please telephone the Membership Secretary on 01303 245216 or go to the Membership page on this website for an application form.
