About the society
The Folkestone Art Society is committed to maintaining high standards of practice. High standards that have grown over the years. We aim to promote the continuing development of our members and the arts in Kent and Folkestone.
We are both professional and amateur artists who hold exhibitions, lectures, open studios, workshops, outings and community projects. We embrace a range of art forms: painting, pastels, drawing, sculpture, etching and ceramics. Some of our members regularly exhibit throughout the UK and Europe.
We have about 150 members from as far afield as Deal, Canterbury, Hythe, Ashford, Dover, Romney Marsh, Whitstable, Dunsfold, Lydd and Kingsdown. We exist to enjoy creating art and to share it with local residents as well as with the many visitors to the area. We hold two of the largest exhibitions in Kent in each year and we invite local fifth form students to take part in a special award competition.
We welcome new artists to our Society who can join as full or associate members. We would be pleased to see your work and confident that you would soon want to come and join us.
